Finally, the old Dizzee Rascal Is Back

During my teenage years, I was hooked on rap, among other music styles. As this genre witnessed a real expansion in my country at the beginning of this century, I was absorbing choruses and verses on a daily level. When it comes to world scene, I was listening to the bunch of current black MCs and that one white dude. Typical. Around this time was when London grime artist sneaked into my discman. I was listening to his first three albums religiously. He's Just A Rascal, a Dizzee Rascal or Fix Up, Look Sharp from epochal debut album Boy in da Corner, or Hustle Hustle Constantly or Knock Knock, who's there from aggressive successor Showtime were inevitable on my playlists. On the third album, I had a few favorites and I was starting to say goodbye to Dizzee who started leaning towards mainstream. I was sick of his fourth album, and the fifth stimulated a gag reflex after je very first listen. I thought that the once killer MC and I broke up.

Luckily, to my huge pleasure, Dizzee has just dropped a stellar back to basics record that made me fall back in love with him after introductory Focus and Wot U Gonna Do. He catapulted it at the right moment, as I was also getting tired of newcomers in grime. On Raskit, representative of East London got rid off EDM rap, he does not have fancy guest appearances, no pop hits for MTV. Here, you will only find the old, motherfuckin', super-heavy-grime. Dizzee proves I let him go too early. He still has fresh and killer rhymes, and he seems ready to return to the throne that belongs to him. Basically, this is the concept of this album - to let everyone know that the old cat is back, and mouses better run away. Dizzee Rascal dominates again, and Raskit is his best record in the past ten years. Nothing makes me happier than to see my once favorite artists strive again.
